In today’s industrial sector, maintaining optimal water quality and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of water treatment systems are critically important. The Smart Water Treatment project from Fordewind is an advanced software and hardware solution designed to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and control of water treatment processes in industrial facilities.
Smart Water Treatment is a comprehensive system that provides continuous monitoring and analysis of key parameters within industrial water treatment systems. Our primary goal is to equip operators and plant owners with tools to deeply understand water and equipment conditions, enabling the timely detection of deviations and the prevention of potential malfunctions. This is achieved through automated data collection, intelligent analysis, and intuitive visualization.


High-speed data from the encoder is efficiently processed by the PLC and wirelessly transmitted via a Wi-Fi access point. This data streaming functionality eliminates the need for local internet connectivity, offering a flexible and portable solution for depth measurement tasks.
The PLC module incorporates an external “Zero Point” button, a crucial feature for accurate depth measurements. When the drilling equipment is positioned at the starting level, users can simply press the zero button to establish a reference point. This initiates further measurements with precision and consistency.
By combining Siemens PLC technology, user-friendly interfaces, wireless data streaming, and zero-point calibration, the DepthMetrics Automation Initiative represents a significant leap forward in automating depth measurement processes. This project not only enhances the accuracy of measurements but also empowers users with a versatile and efficient tool for diverse applications in drilling and related industries.
Scope of Project
The Smart Water Treatment solution includes several integrated components that operate within a unified ecosystem:
- Smart Device for Water Treatment Systems: This specialized hardware device is designed to connect to industrial water treatment systems. It collects data on water quality (both incoming and purified), its physico-chemical properties, and the status of the system’s aggregates. The collected data is then transmitted to the cloud for further processing and monitoring.
- Cloud Platform for Data Processing: All collected data is securely stored in a centralized database in the cloud. This platform ensures secure storage, structuring, and accessibility of data for subsequent analysis.
- CRM System with Visualization Tools: The developed CRM system provides end-users with a convenient interface for accessing and visualizing data. Through intuitive graphs, charts, and reports, users can monitor key parameters in real time, analyze trends, and gain a complete understanding of the water treatment system’s operation.
- Predictive Maintenance Service: A key feature of Smart Water Treatment is its integrated predictive maintenance service. Based on collected data and intelligent algorithms, the system can forecast potential malfunctions or failures in the plant’s aggregates. This allows for proactive maintenance and repairs before a major breakdown occurs, minimizing downtime and costs.
