The purpose of creation and assignment of 5G network
Let’s start from the very beginning of the birth of “The G Clan”.
The mobile communication networks of previous generations had the following aims and functions:
1G: The voice on analog network services
2G: Digital voice services, low-speed data services (GPRS, EDGE)
3G: High-speed data services (HSPA), with mobile Internet access on IP, MBB (Mobile Broadband) mobile Internet access.
4G: MBB Mobile Broadband based on LTE, LTE-A, Voice (VoLTE)
5G: Networks significantly expand the limited functionality of previous generations of mobile networks.
So the main functional characteristics of the 5G networks are, therefore:
- EMBB enhanced mobile broadband
- Ultra-Low Latency Reliable Communication (ULLRC)
- Massive machine-to-machine communications Massive IoT / IIoT, mMTC (massive Machine Type Communication)
All the variety of services and capacity of the IMT2020 (5G) networks is based on these three generalized types of functionality:
Gigabytes per second. 5G networks have the potential to dramatically improve data rates through various radio access technologies (RAT) and using the new radio spectrum 5G NR (New Radio) radio spectrum. The user obtains an almost unlimited bandwidth, both for domestic use of various services and for business purposes (Immersive Telepresence, Industrial IoT, etc.)
Smart Home. A wide range of Internet of Things (IoT) services will be available for the Smart Home and Smart Building solutions: video surveillance, home appliances control and automation, security systems management, content storage, climate control, etc.
Smart city. The Smart City solution is a horizontal and vertical scale of functionality and the range of services of Smart Home. The main services of the smart city: secure city, e-government, e-health, e-education, e-bank, electronic collection of housing and communal services Smart Meters, Smart Grid, etc.
New 4K / 8K video services: Surrounding video, ultra-high-definition screen (UHD), the possibility of presence effect.
Working in the cloud. The service not only allows you to store data in the cloud storage and to recover it from there but also to use applications that work directly from the cloud. In addition, with the possibility of using them on any device and from any place. In addition, you can use APIs by which cloud service providers can provide their services to subscribers from a 5G network operator.
Increased and virtual reality (AR/VR). The virtual reality service VR (Virtual Reality) plunges a person into another world, influencing his or her senses, mainly vision (VR visions). The augmented reality service AR (Added Reality) combines a real environment with virtual objects for the user. These services are suitable not only for entertainment, games, virtual communication in the “telepresence” mode, but can also significantly improve the learning process, when students using VR-glasses can, for example, clearly see the internal structure of a person at a lecture on anatomy, a foreman in the workshop can study the order of assembly of a complex unit, etc.
Industrial Automation. The 5G network, along with the Internet of Things IoT technology, using industrial sensors IIoT (Industrial Internet of things) sensors, as well as the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) can significantly increase the degree of automation of production. At the same time, it is possible to analyze large amounts of heterogeneous data (Big Data) both on the basis of results (perspective) and using the machine and deep learning (machine learning, deep learning).
Mission-Critical Applications. Such applications may include e-health, emergency communications (critical mission communication), Internet touch (Internet touch), and others.
Unmanned vehicles (vehicles without driver). Unequipped vehicles can be part of the Smart City service, however, they can be supplied on their platform. It includes not only cars without a driver, but also unmanned tractors for smart agriculture, unmanned trains for metropolitan and suburban railways, drones, and other forms of public and special transportation. Besides, on the 5G platform, you can implement ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) driver assistance systems.
It should be pointed out that the figure above shows only some of the 5G platform services and solutions.
In contrast to the networks of previous generations, the range of services of which was strictly limited and somewhat expanded in 4G, the services of the 5G platform are synergistic and scalable, and are not limited to once specified functionality. 5G acts as a platform for the development mode of new services and DevOps applications, where new functions are created by the developers (Development) in close coordination with the teams responsible for their implementation and operation (Operation).
In general, it can be said that the 5G network includes not only mobile services but also fixed services, as well as low latency high-speed Internet access, as well as specialized and corporate networks for the vertical branches of the economy.
